The St. Francis Baseball Team is geared up and ready to go –
the Golden Knights are coming off a 16-13 overall record and 6-6 in Mission
League play, where the Knights finished tied for 3rd and lost in the
wild card game of the Div II play-offs to Buena HS (Ventura) 3-5.
Leading the way for the Golden Knights will be their
pitching staff, led by seniors Ethan Bramschreiber (Northwestern) and AJ
Berglund (UC Santa Barbara), Ryan Pires, Andrew Yu and Chris Scott.
Juniors that will contribute on the mound will be Joey Malham, Chris
Longo, Brett Nelson, and Eddie Brewer.
Offensively the Golden Knights will be led by returning 1st
team All-Mission League player Mark Saatzer (LF). The Knights look for leadership and production out of
seniors Andrew Yu (2B), TJ Armand (OF), Ryan Pires (DH), John Moe (DH/1B) and
Zach Ingram (UTIL). Juniors that
will be expected to play significant roles in the success of the season will be
David Hubinger (C), JP Nolan (SS), Brady Markel (OF), Brandon Van Horn (INF) and
sophomore David Olmedo-Barrera (3B).
The Knights have another tough season on the horizon, the
Knights participate in the tough Mission League, where a league member has
played in the CIF finals for the last seven years. The boys play in the Arcadia Elks pre season tournament and
the Arcadia HS Easter Tournament, have double headers vs. Saugus HS and Rio
Mesa HS and play single games with Crescenta Valley HS and Santa Monica HS.
