Salary:  $70,000 - $85,000 DOE

Job Summary
The Religion Teacher is responsible for teaching several Religion classes, providing students with an engaging and thorough understanding of Catholic teachings and Franciscan values. The role involves designing and delivering a curriculum that aligns with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' guidelines, fostering spiritual and intellectual growth in students, and collaborating with the Religion Department to ensure instructional consistency.

  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues to align curriculum and share instructional strategies.
  • Models a commitment to Catholic faith and Franciscan values, fostering a faith-filled learning environment.
  • Designs innovative, student-centered lessons that engage learners of varying abilities.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively in writing and in person to connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Manages the classroom effectively, creating a respectful and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Adapts to new technologies and incorporates digital tools into teaching practices to enhance student learning.
  • Knowledge of religious principles and demonstrated ability to apply in a classroom setting. 
Education and Experience
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Theology or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of full-time Religion teaching experience in an accredited Catholic high school (preferred).
  • Active teaching credential (preferred).
  • Proven ability to design and deliver lessons aligned with Catholic principles and educational standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technology.
  • Successful completion of background check and VIRTUS training.
Primary Job Duties
  • Adhere to established classroom procedures and school regulations to maintain a structured learning environment.
  • Engage in additional duties including, but not limited to, homeroom supervision, lunch supervision, and event supervision.
  • Fulfills the role of a substitute teacher as needed, ensuring continuity and progression of the curriculum in the absence of fellow instructors.
  • Participate in activities like Open House, Back to School Night, and others, actively supporting the school community.
  • Uphold the faith community within the school, promoting moral values in line with our tradition.
  • Teach two Religion classes, delivering instruction rooted in Catholic theology and aligned with Franciscan values.
  • Design ca urriculum that adheres to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' guidelines and makes learning engaging and relevant.
  • Monitor student progress, provide regular feedback, and adjust teaching methods to meet individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate with co-teachers and the Religion Department Chairperson to ensure consistency and excellence in instruction.
  • Integrate faith formation into daily lessons, encouraging students to develop a personal relationship with God.
  • Frequently ascend or descend stairs or ramps; perform movement in various positions to accomplish tasks in different environments; often remain stationary, either standing or sitting for prolonged periods; move about to accomplish tasks or move from one classroom to another.  Occasionally adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.  Regularly perform repetitive motions, including wrists, hands, and fingers.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
